Macaé Airport, managed by Zurich Airport Brasil, obtained important international recognition that attests to its commitment to sustainability. Macaé Airport was certified by the ACA (Airport Carbon Accreditation), an ACI (Airports Council International) program, for consolidating the mapping of its carbon emissions.
 
The airport received the Mapping seal, one of the levels of the only global certification program for carbon management approved for airports in the world.
 
“The certification proves our progress in sustainability, one of the company's pillars. It also drives us to follow the path of planned actions in order to reach increasingly relevant levels in the global commitment to the climate agenda”, says Ricardo Gesse, CEO of Zurich Airport Brasil.
 
The ACA certification crowns the innovative Carbon Flow, a system developed 100% by the company's employees, awarded in 2021 with the "Green Airport Recognition", at the Annual Conference of the International Council of Airports of Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC), at the Mexico. Teams and technologies dedicated to the management of emissions interpret indicators in a systematic and traceable way, in order to create solutions to reduce environmental impact.
 
ACI-LAC Director General Rafael Echevarne celebrated the Swiss group's achievement: "As aviation in Latin America and the Caribbean grows, it is essential that airports commit to the decarbonization of aviation, in line with the commitment of the industry to achieve zero emissions by 2050. The ACA program has already proven to be an effective tool to help airports around the world on this journey and it is a pleasure to have Zurich Airport Brasil on board”
 
With international recognition, Vitória airport is able to develop programs in line with the ambitious but necessary goal of reaching Net Zero by 2050, that is, zeroing the net balance of greenhouse gas emissions by the middle of the century. .
